What is an AED ( automatic external defibrillator ) ?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that provides an electric shock through the chest the heart. The shock  can stop an irregular rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume in the heart of sudden cardiac arrest. The SCA is an abrupt loss of heart function. If not treated within minutes, quickly leads to death. More sudden cardiac arrest result of ventricular fibrillation. This is a fast heart rate and synchronized  origin in the lower chambers of the heart pumping (the ventricles). The heart must be "defibrillation" quickly, since the probability of a victim of survival drops by 7 to 10 percent for every minute a normal heartbeat is not restored.
